What is the PE & Sport Premium?

At Inglehurst Infant School, we believe that high‑quality physical education and regular physical activity are essential for every child’s health, wellbeing and development. The Government provides additional PE and Sport Premium funding each year to help primary schools improve the quality of their PE provision and to increase pupils’ participation in physical activity.The Sport Premium is annual funding from the Government designed to help schools:

• Improve the quality of PE teaching and learning
• Broaden the range of sports and physical activities offered to pupils
• Increase opportunities for pupils to be active throughout the school day
• Build sustainable improvements in physical activity, health and wellbeing

This funding enables schools to make long‑term improvements so that pupils leave primary school with the skills, confidence and motivation to enjoy sport and physical activity for life. 

How we use the funding

We use our Sport Premium to:

• Enhance the teaching of PE through high‑quality resources, equipment and staff training
• Increase opportunities for pupils to take part in a wider range of sports and active experiences
• Support activities that encourage children to be active every day, both in and beyond PE lessons
• Improve outdoor and indoor environments to promote safe, active play and physical development

Impact and sustainability

Each year, we evaluate the impact of the Sport Premium on pupils’:

• Physical skills, fitness and participation
• Enjoyment of PE and sport
• Confidence, teamwork and wellbeing
• Engagement in active play and healthy lifestyles

We also plan for long‑term sustainability, ensuring that any improvements — such as staff training, resources, or new initiatives — continue to benefit pupils in future years.
