Support during the school holidays

Just as Edwina, our family support worker, supports parents during term time, staff at the children's centres will be able to provide support and advice to families throughout the school holidays on issues such as finance and parenting.

Information about family life and support

Family life can be rewarding and fulfilling, but there are times when it can be overwhelming and you need some support. In school we can support in the following ways:

Education Welfare Officer – Rash Patel – can advise and support with attendance issues
School Nursing Team – can advise and support with children’s health issues
Ms Pochin – Headteacher/Lead DSL – can lend a listening ear, advise and support on safeguarding and education issues and signpost support from the Local Authority, charities and other local services.
Mrs Ellis – Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and Inclusion Manager – can advise and support on children’s special educational needs
Mrs Parker - Deputy DSL/Attendance, welfare and Child Protection – can lend a listening ear and advise and support on children’s attendance and safeguarding issues
Mrs Osborne - Deputy DSL/Family Support Worker - support for a huge range of issues from housing, access to benefits, support with applications, signposting to other agencies and support with your child.
Mr Vamplew – School Business Manager – advise and support on school financial issues.

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust- Free online parenting courses

The Solihull Approach courses cover concerns that parents often face with children, from before they are born to early adulthood, including physical and mental health, understanding their feelings and how to build better relationships.

The courses include the same content as you would receive in a typical face-to-face parenting group run by health visitors. They are available in 108 languages, with voiceovers in English and Urdu. Each course has a number of different components, and they can be accessed at any time and any place.

Understanding your child - 0-19 years
Understanding your child with additional needs
Understanding the impact of the pandemic on your teenager
Understanding your teenager's brain

Further courses are currently in development, including a specific course for supporting children and young people with possible neurodevelopmental conditions.

Early Help

Freeva - 0116 2550004 - provide support for domestic violence. The helpline is open 8am – 8pm, Monday to Friday and is free from all mobiles, landlines and payphones. It is also hidden on the telephone bill.10am – 4pm on Weekends and Bank Holidays.
