Frogspawn in Ashdown

A mother frog lays her eggs in water. The eggs are called frogspawn.

Spring has arrived at last. The flowers are growing.

The pussy willow is growing on the branches. These will grow into leaves in the summer.

A frog lives on land and in water. A mummy frog lays her eggs in water. Each egg has one dark spot. The tadpole hatches out after about 10 days.

Frog spawn floats to the surface of the water and it is warmed by the sun. The jelly around the egg protects it from bumps.

A tadpole comes out of the egg. A tadpole looks more like a fish than a frog. It has a long tail and can swim.
